Fresh Wind Spiritual Care provides Christ-centered care and programming for residents and staff through a team of dedicated ministry staff at the Western Home Communities. Through a variety of ministry offerings, we are devoted to bringing Bible studies, hymn sings, Chaplain Chats, Devotionals, Worship services, and other Gatherings across campus. Our Chaplains minister in many end-of-life journeys and often are asked to assist in funerals, burials, baptisms, and other life celebrations

“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Worship Service

Join us every Sunday at 10:30 AM for a welcoming, non-denominational worship service at the Diamond Event Center in Jorgensen Plaza. We also hold regular services in independent and dependent living communities throughout the week.

Our team is dedicated to walking alongside residents, families, and staff—offering a listening ear, prayer, and compassionate presence. We provide support during hospital stays, times of crisis, and end-of-life care.

Spiritual Growth

From devotions and Bible studies to hymn sings and small group gatherings, we offer opportunities for spiritual connection and growth across all Western Home campuses. Our Christ-centered care is here to uplift and inspire.

Words for the journey.

Spiritual Care is about presence, listening, and hope. These blog posts are shared to offer encouragement, reflection, and a sense of connection—both spiritually and with the compassionate team who is here to support you.

When residents face life’s hardest moments, our Spiritual Care team is there—listening, praying, and walking alongside them in Christ’s love. Your generosity helps ensure every resident can find comfort, hope, and a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with Jesus Christ.

Alice Isenhower Fund

What is the Alice Isenhower Fund?

A strong foundation of faith keeps the Western Home Communities firmly tied to its mission as a charitable Christian service organization, and connecting with others is at the heart of the work. The Alice Isenhower Connection Endowment Fund provides for one chaplain to be entirely focused on building meaningful relationships with residents, especially those who may be lonely, grieving, or struggling.

This fund began with a love for Iowa Hawkeye football that spanned over a century. At 103, Alice Isenhower was a Hawkeye Superfan who connected with Iowa teammates CJ Beathard and Ike Boettger. The players arranged a bye-week visit with Alice in Cedar Falls. The players arrived at her room at 10:45 p.m., and she was excitedly waiting. That visit led to several other visits from the players, igniting a call to provide regular visits for residents who spend time alone.

As Ike and CJ graduated from the University of Iowa and went on to play NFL football, they never lost sight of the value of personal visits. In 2018, they both were inspired to give a generous donation, starting the Alice Isenhower Connection Fund.

This fund allows Fresh Wind Spiritual Care to accomplish visits in personal and powerful ways each day. Please consider a generous gift that would allow this important work to continue.
