Love One Another
By Chaplain Byron
In a local church Easter cantata, the climactic scene was the Ascension. For this scene, Christ was to be hoisted out of view through a hole in the ceiling. His words,
“Lo, I am with you always”
signaled the beginning of the Ascension. Everything had gone according to the script, up to this point. However, as Jesus began to rise, the stage crew lost their grip on the rope. The Jesus-actor nearly dropped to the stage. The stage crew was able to regain control of the rope and stopped his fall just inches from the floor. Amazingly, he remained totally in character as his "disciples" looked on in horror.
“Oh, and one more thing,” he said calmly, “love one another!”
Immediately he was hoisted up and out of sight.
Shortly before his crucifixion, Jesus gave a command to his disciples:
“love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
So, and one more thing, not to be repetitive, "love one another." ♥️
Have a blessed Easter!
