Winter Warmth
by Chaplain Enrique Ochoa
A pastor once shared how, during a harsh winter, he noticed a single candle glowing in a neighbor’s window. Though the wind howled and snow piled high, that small light shone steadily through the night. “That,” he said, “is what Christ does for us.”
Winter can feel long, cold, and spiritually drab. Our energy fades, our motivation slows, and our hearts may feel quite dim. Yet Jesus stands as our constant flame—never flickering, never fading. Scripture reminds us,
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”
John tells us here: That light we need IS Jesus!
Even when our emotions grow cold, Christ’s presence is revealed to us to be warm and ever faithful. Here is a Winter invitation: slow down, draw near, and let His light illuminate your steps. Like that candle in the window, His hope can guide us through any frozen season of the soul.
In Christ, winter is not the end—there is a making ready for new life.
